Skate Canada's Canskate Program

Conducted in a fun, friendly environment, the CanSkate program showcases a comprehensive series of balance, control and agility skills, using a nationally-tested and proven curriculum that supports skater success in developing stronger basic skills on the ice.

A comprehensive series of balance, control and agility skills designed to prepare skaters for all ice sports requiring skates, as well as recreational skating.

All coaches are certified by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

 

Pre-Can

 

For Skaters 3-4 years old.  

Participants who have never skated before or who between 3-4 years old are considered Pre-Can Skaters.  Sessions are 30 minutes in length with a 1:5 (coach:skater ratio).  Skaters can wear hockey skates or figure skates. 

A CSA-Approved Helmet is mandatory!

 

Pre-Can Skaters will work on the eight basic skating skills designed to get them ready for Stage 1. 

  • Fall Down & Stand-Up
  • Balance on Two Feet
  • Move Forward
  • Move Backward
  • Twist
  • Jump
  • Turn in a Circle
  • Make Snow (Preparing to Stop)

    No private lessons are available.
